Colour studies assignment 'first draft'

Today we were split into two groups to present and discuss our first images. The images were projected out and the group had to guess the season each image is supposed to depict and why it made them associate it to that season. These sessions are enjoyable for me because it gives us a chance to see each persons different style and take on things, and discuss other ideas and routes we can possibly take to achieve our final image.

As I have been given 'Winter' to work with I went for the cosy kind of image...

During the discussion about the images it was noted that on the first image, although it's inside and the fire's on, the floor could be made to look more inviting if a rug was lay out, and after hearing this I can see the thinking behind it.

For the third image it was brought up that from the view of the picture it seems as though the table is 'standing in the way' of the viewer and the fire, therefor holding back on the cosy feel, I can kind of see the thinking behind this but I put across that from the angle and height of the image it looks to me that you could be sat on the settee, a nice hot chocolate in hand with your feet up but I guess that shows how peoples views vary.

I included a few other images from a sunset shoot I did last week...

I included these images to try and get across the whole 'Winter sunset' theme but that's kind of hard when we're still in a Autumn type season, the only thing is nothing's 'falling' as yet, you just have to love good old British weather eh! I think the last image works best for me, I chose this because of the lack of cloud in the sky and the orangey/pink, low lying colours. Someone pointed out that to them, the plane could also signify winter as people like to pack up and get some sun during these times.

My final image is due in on November 4th so I shall share it with you as soon as I possibly can....
